Eric Reinholdt

Eric Reinholdt is an award-winning architect, mountain climber, designer, guitar player, paper cutter, blogger and author. He is the founder of 30X40 Design Workshop, a residential design studio bordering Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island just off the coast of Maine. This is where he lives and practices in a modern Longhouse, designed by him with his family.

His architecture is simple, modern, site-specific, and craft-driven. It features local materials and familiar forms juxtaposed against modern, open floor plans with minimalist detailing. The work celebrates humble materials, subtle contrasts and finely crafted details.

“Thirty by Forty Design Workshop was established in June of 2013 in a home Eric Reinholdt designed overlooking Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. In 2016, he designed and constructed the Long Studio to complement the Longhouse and serve as a full-scale model of his design principles and the latest in building science; this is the home for 30X40.

30X40 is a design-focused, residential architecture firm founded by award-winning architect Eric W. Reinholdt. We design simple, modern, site-specific homes. We’re inspired by our rugged surroundings, humble materials, agrarian building forms, and modernist detailing.

Our studio is located on the midcoast of Maine on Mount Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park. While many of our projects are located here in Maine, we accept – and are currently designing – commissions throughout the United States. A thought leader in the architectural community, Eric has authored two books + created the most popular architecture channel on YouTube where he releases new videos each week to more than 330K followers.”
